Manufactured for CMD, the module features two adaptive fast charging 65W USB-C ports, for high power smart phones, and laptops; and a 13amp socket for workstation power, with a thermal resettable fuse. 

Caplet’s™ versatility means office workers can work quickly and more efficiently with any of their handheld or portable kit. These unique features are superior to the direct competitors.

Caplet’s™ unique interchangeable colour fascia, with 9 standard modern colours, fits in with the latest office designs, branding or to aid desk identification. We’ve even had some of the best contemporary furniture designers complement us, on how we matched their range; and ask for samples for their showrooms!

Together we set up the infrastructure and engineering control to create bespoke colours and logo-printed options for brands.

Product Management

As Head of Product, leading the team; I devised the marketing concept, developed the technical engineering and supply partnerships, built the business case; and created the full range of on-industry-trend colours. Supported by QA, standards, production, compliance and full technical packs.

The product was based on strong consumer and customer insight, technical excellence, and an ambitious business case. As the first NPD project my team managed with me; it was a strong opportunity to develop team skills and establish best practice.

Engineering Design

Engineering included development of component and mould approval (1st for CMD), essential or latter projects , including statistical visual inspection, colour matching and engineering stack up.

The tolerance stack allowed us to make and assemble the interchangeable fascia’s in the UK and order the core colours fully assembled from China without high stock volumes and long lead times for bespoke brand colours.

Product Marketing and Launch

CMD Showroom - Caplet Launch Take Over - Clerkenwell Design Week

We standardised the marketing launch pack, including sell sheets and side-by-side competitor comparison to give our sales teams stronger ammunition in their pitches. The launch is supported with a retail-stye pack giveaway with unique QR codes to track and contact new customers, and a trademarked product name.

Launched at Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW), my marketing team implemented a Mondrian-style takeover of the CMD Showroom, coinciding with our company re-branding.  

Together with the switch to benefit-led marketing and use of lifestyle photography to target architecture and design houses; it grabbed the attention of our customers and their clients.

Project Management

I brought forward the launch by over three months and built a robust stage gate process for new innovations.

The programme was project managed to deliver early to hit the CDW event, together with a detailed business plan. This brought robustness to the NPD process and set the benchmark for future innovation launches. This was the first detailed project plan for NPD at CMD, initially managed through a workshop on Excel and latter on MS Project as a standard template.

On the back for this, I recruited a full-time project manager to accelerate the pace of innovation and ensure cross functional diligence; each subsequent project having both regular project meetings and following a new Stage Gate Process.

Design and Product Management

Caplet set the standard for NPD development at CMD with a robust process, innovative and beautiful design, supporting sales and marketing assets, and a product that met the needs of our customer for their end user consumers in modern flexible work environments.

It has become the fastest growing product for CMD and allowed us to attract architecture and design studios to our brand, products and services.
